Windows 2003 Server, using an Internet Information Services (IIS) web server.
If you would like to create a personal web site, go to the Personal Web
Sites Policy Page, read the policies, then complete the Personal Website
Agreement.
The URL for personal websites is http://homepage.gallaudet.edu/firstname.lastname.
General Information and Restrictions
Personal web sites are limited to 50 megabytes, and may not include Microsoft
FrontPage extensions, Server Side inclusions, or CGI engines. File names
are not case sensitive, and file extensions can be either .htm or .html.
The default page for each directory or subdirectory should be named index.htm
or index.html. This allows the user to type the path to the directory without
having to also type the file name.
How to Publish Personal Websites
When you are on the Gallaudet University campus and logged into the network, you can access your personal homepage folder via the network. The URL for the personal homepage folder is \\web.gallaudet.edu\firstname.lastname. To access your personal homepage folder, you need to map a network drive. To learn how to do so, please read the How to Map a Network Drive instructions. Add your HTML files to your personal homepage folder and they will be viewable at your personal website URL, http://homepage.gallaudet.edu/firstname.lastname.
If you are not on the Gallaudet University campus, you can connect to the network by utilizing the Virtual Private Network (VPN). For instructions on how to setup a VPN, please
reference the VPN Configuration document.
After you connect to the VPN, follow the on-campus instructions for publishing
a website.
Problems with Personal Web Sites should be reported to the HelpDesk.
