Gallaudet University implemented Cisco Clean Access (CCA) in all dormitories and wireless LANs to ensure that all computers that connect to the University’s network are patched and protected. This will also ensure that users are also protected against malicious software attacks such as viruses and worms which can cause data loss or data theft.
Using CCA makes sure that computers connected to the network are protected, providing all users with a cleaner, safer network.
To use CCA, Windows XP users must install the CCA Agent software on their computers. The CCA Agent checks each computer to ensure that they have all the necessary operating system updates, automatic upgrades enabled, and Gallaudet University-provided Symantec Antivirus installed. If a computer fails to meet one or more of these requirements, the CCA Agent helps the user acquire and install all the necessary components.
Computers will be granted full access to the network after they have been fully updated and protected. Users will be asked to log in using their Bison Login (Gallaudet e-mail address without the @gallaudet.edu) and password to access the network.
Users with videophone equipment (Sorenson & D-Link) will not be affected by the CCA process. All videophone equipment will continue to work without any additional requirements.
Please read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – many common questions that users have concerning CCA and CCA Agent are answered in this FAQ. If you are still experiencing problems that cannot be answered by the FAQ, please contact ITS at infotech.services@gallaudet.edu or stop by Edward Miner Gallaudet building room B09.
